Getting Started8 questions
How do I download MyHazMate?
MyHazMate is available on both the App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). Search for "MyHazMate" or visit our download page for direct links. The app is free to download with a 30-day trial.
How do I create an account?
Open the app and tap "Register". Enter your company name, your name, email address, and create a password. You'll receive a verification code via email to confirm your account. Once verified, you can start adding materials immediately.
What's included in the 30-day free trial?
The free trial gives you full access to all features of your chosen plan for 30 days: AI photo scanning, automatic SDS management, emergency QR codes, and user management. Simply choose a plan and start your trial — you won't be charged until the trial ends.
Do I need to enter payment details to start?
Yes. You first choose a subscription plan, then start your 30-day free trial on that plan. Both the App Store and Google Play require a payment method to be connected to your account before starting the trial. You will not be charged during the 30-day trial period. After the trial ends, your chosen plan will automatically continue unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.
How do I add my first material?
From the Materials screen, tap the "+" button. You can either scan a product label using AI photo recognition (recommended) or enter details manually. The AI will automatically identify the product name, manufacturer, and DG class from the label.
Can I import my existing register?
Currently, materials need to be added individually using the app. However, with AI photo scanning, you can quickly add multiple materials by photographing their labels in succession. Bulk import via CSV is planned for a future update.
Is there a desktop version?
MyHazMate is currently available as a mobile app for iOS and Android. A web-based desktop version is on our roadmap for future development. The mobile app is designed for on-site use where you need to scan and manage materials.
What devices are supported?
MyHazMate works on iPhones and iPads running iOS 13.0 or later, and Android phones and tablets running Android 8.0 or later. The app is optimized for both phone and tablet displays.
Materials & SDS10 questions
How does AI photo scanning work?
Point your phone camera at any product label and tap "Scan". Our AI (powered by Claude) reads the label and extracts the product name, manufacturer, UN number, and Dangerous Goods class. It works on tins, bottles, drums, and even faded or partially damaged labels.
How does automatic SDS fetching work?
When you add a material, our AI searches manufacturer databases and verified sources to find the official Safety Data Sheet (SDS) PDF. We automatically extract the issue date, calculate the expiry (5 years from issue), and store it securely in the cloud.
What if an SDS can't be found automatically?
If our AI can't find an SDS, the material will show as "Pending". Our system then automatically emails the supplier requesting the SDS on your behalf. If that doesn't work, our team intervenes personally to source the document. You're never responsible for getting SDS documents — that's our job. You can upload an SDS manually if you want to, but you never have to.
How do I know when an SDS is expiring?
Each material shows an SDS status: Active (green), Expiring Soon (orange, within 90 days), or Expired (red). The app automatically tracks all expiry dates - you don't need to remember or check manually. We'll also notify you about upcoming expirations.
Why do SDS documents need to be less than 5 years old?
Under Australian WHS regulations, Safety Data Sheets must be current (within 5 years of the issue date). This ensures you have up-to-date safety information, as manufacturers may change formulations or discover new hazards over time.
Can I view SDS documents in the app?
Yes. Tap any material and then tap "View SDS" to open the full Safety Data Sheet PDF. This is particularly useful during inspections or when workers need to check safety information on-site.
What product categories are available?
MyHazMate includes 12 product categories: Paints & Coatings, Solvents & Thinners, Adhesives & Sealants, Cleaning Products, Fuels & Oils, Acids & Bases, Gases, Batteries, Pesticides & Herbicides, Fertilizers, Medical & Pharmaceutical, and Other.
What Dangerous Goods classes are supported?
All 9 UN Dangerous Goods classes are supported: Class 1 (Explosives), Class 2 (Gases), Class 3 (Flammable Liquids), Class 4 (Flammable Solids), Class 5 (Oxidizers), Class 6 (Toxic/Infectious), Class 7 (Radioactive), Class 8 (Corrosive), and Class 9 (Miscellaneous). Materials can also be marked as N/A if they're not dangerous goods.
Can I track quantities and lot numbers?
Yes, on Pro plans and above. You can record quantities in litres, kilograms, or units, and track lot/batch numbers for traceability. This is useful for inventory management and compliance with quantity limits for certain materials.
How do I delete a material from my register?
Open the material details, tap the menu (three dots), and select "Delete". Deleted materials are removed from your active register but the action is logged in your activity history for audit purposes.
Sites & Locations6 questions
What's the difference between sites and locations?
Sites are your physical work locations (offices, warehouses, job sites). Locations are storage areas within a site (e.g., "Shed A", "Cabinet 3", "Loading Bay"). Each site has its own materials register and emergency QR code.
How many sites can I have?
It depends on your plan: Starter (1 site), Pro (3 sites), Growth (10 sites), Scale (unlimited sites). You can upgrade your plan at any time to add more sites.
How do I switch between sites?
Tap the site name at the top of the Materials screen. A list of your sites will appear. Select the site you want to view. Each site's materials are kept separate.
Can I move a material to a different site?
Material transfer between sites is coming in a future update. Currently, you would need to delete the material from one site and add it to another. The material details can be copied to make this easier.
What happens to sites if I downgrade my plan?
If you downgrade to a plan with fewer sites, your excess sites will become "inactive". The data is preserved, but you won't be able to add new materials until you're within your plan limits or upgrade again.
Can I share sites between companies?
Sites are specific to your company account. If multiple businesses operate at the same location, each would need their own MyHazMate account with their own materials register.
Emergency QR Codes5 questions
What are Emergency QR Codes?
Emergency QR Codes are printable codes you can display at site entrances. When scanned (by emergency services, inspectors, or anyone), they show a live view of all hazardous materials at that site - no login required.
How do I generate an Emergency QR Code?
Go to the Emergency QR screen from the app menu. Select a site and tap "Generate PDF". The PDF includes the QR code, your site address, and emergency contact information. Print it and laminate for outdoor use.
Is the Emergency QR page always up to date?
Yes. The QR code links to a live web page that always shows your current materials register. When you add, edit, or remove materials in the app, the emergency page updates automatically.
What information does the emergency page show?
The emergency page displays: site address, all materials with their quantities and storage locations, Dangerous Goods classes with color-coded icons, and total quantities by DG class. It's designed for quick reference by first responders.
Is the QR code secure?
The emergency page only shows material names, quantities, locations, and DG classes - information emergency services need. It doesn't reveal sensitive business data, SDS documents, or user information. The page is intentionally public so first responders can access it without logging in.
Users & Teams7 questions
How do I add team members?
Go to Settings > Manage Users (Admin/Manager only). Tap "Add User" and enter their name, email, and create a password for them. Share these login details with them so they can sign in directly — no invitation email is sent.
What are the different user roles?
Manager: Full access including billing and subscription management. Admin: Can manage materials, users, and sites but not billing. User: Can view and add materials only. Each role has appropriate access for their responsibilities.
How many users can I have?
It depends on your plan: Starter (3 users), Pro (10 users), Growth (25 users), Scale (unlimited users). The user count includes all roles.
Can users access multiple sites?
Yes. All users in your company can switch between and access all sites on your account. Site-specific user restrictions are planned for a future update.
How do I change a user's role?
Go to Settings > Manage Users, select the user, and change their role from the dropdown. Only Managers and Admins can change user roles.
How do I remove a user?
Go to Settings > Manage Users, select the user, and tap "Delete User". Their access will be revoked immediately. Their past activities remain in the activity log for audit purposes.
What if a user forgets their password?
On the login screen, tap "Forgot Password?". Enter the company name and email address, and a verification code will be sent to reset the password.
